I inquired about a $50 payday loan through a reputable company. The company apparently wasn't so reputable as they sold my information (including clearly my bank account information) to a multitude of companies. After days of telling people that I wasn't interested in their services, and finally getting my phone to stop ringing, this check processes through my account for $30, and causes me a $35 overdraft fee, costing me all in toll of $65. The "customer service" number just puts me on hold forever ringing and ringing, no matter what time of the day I call, and I've waited 30-45 minutes each time I've called. I've now filed a police report and a report with the bank; I should not have to spend all this time trying to get money back that I didn't authorize them to take in the first place.
