I was contacted by a company agent Gordon Sambrooks (their immigration consultant) on 14th June (Thursday) after having passed a free initial assessment on their website. I received "a FREE consultation to provide" (cited from a client service letter) me "with all" my "immigration options" to Australia. He asked me general questions on my background, education level, work experience. That was the only information about me I have provided. He suggested applying for an Independent working visa class. The main question I was interested in was a sum of money I will need IN TOTAL to have peace of mind during the application process. He quoted a fee of £2108,90 which deceived me and I agreed to proceed to opening my case and requested to send me all details via email as our communication had been over the phone so far. The agent agreed to send me information but said that in order to go further I am required to transfer a deposit £527,25. He asked my bank card details to charge the sum immediately. My bank account hadn't sufficient fund at the moment so I offered to transfer money via online banking system. After having made a payment I received all information requested and only then I read "Terms and Conditions" or so-called "Customer Care letter" where the information about additional governmental fees and skills assessment and medical checkup was set out. I decided not to go further (as my budget wasn't planned for these unmentioned expenses) and to interrupt the process as no services has been provided. I tried to get through to the agent for 2 days until he called me on Tuesday, 19th June. I explained my situation, my intention to halt the process and he promised to call me back. He did it 2 days later but kept on telling me on my visa options and that the case was open and so on. I repeated my request to close the case although I cannot imagine what might be in the case if I hadn't submitted any documents and any additional information, I hadn't signed the contract. He said he would speak to his manager and would get back to me with an idea on what can be done. After speaking to his manager he started persuading me to go further as it was one and the only chance for me to get a visa (according to his speech). He wouldn't listen to me and hear my discontent at providing not full fees details prior to my payment. After 26 minutes on the phone with him I managed to convince him to stop the inexistent case. Then I asked for my money back. The agent said the deposit can't be refunded as my case had been open. I insisted on the refund as I had received no services from Global Visas, I hadn't signed any contracts. He promised to speak to his manager again and see what they can do. No one has contacted me since then (21st June).

Kind regards,
Sergey Lamygo.

  • Yes, I did lodge a complaint as I was advised shortly after this happened. I also sent a warning letter to GlobalVisas regarding my intention and roughly within 1 month I got all my money back which came as a surprise as it was not expected already.
