On 03/26/12, I received NOTICE OF NON-RENEWAL of homeowners insurance. The agency was notified of damages to the walls and ceiling in my apartment. I spoke with Meritplan Insurance co on 8/3/11. The agency sent Appraiser, Jason Lopes to inspect my unit on 8/9/11. Mr. Lopes was unable to determine cause of loss. Therefore, (Cunningham Lindsey) got involved as well. Meritplan retained Enginer, John Lindner, with Peter Vallas & Associates. Mr. Lindner inspected my loss on 8/31/11. Mr. Lindner reported "not" structual. Addtionally, it was stated that the damage "appeared" cosmetic. Also, it was stated that Ceiling and Closet showed no evidence of water causing these cracks etc. Furthermore, the non-renewal notice stated that the reason for non-renewal was due to "INCREASE IN HAZARD OR PHYSCIAL CHANGE IN PROPERTY." I recently recieved the first report issued on the loss of my property on 8/17/12 via email/BlackBerry phone @ 11:52:53EDT. The Denial of Coverage dated 9/12/11. Adjuster, Robert Stone completed an inspection of my home the day after hurracaine Irene. The Adjuster was not only late but was provided a recent apprasial of my property to utilize in accessing floor plan layout etc. Furthermore, he was more concerned about getting home due to damages of his daughters home and their problems. I believe that the damages and cause of damages were not based on actual causes that lead to the damages in my home. I reside in a PreWar building that was built with windows however, since living there the hallway windows have "never" been opened to cirulate air through out the building regardless as to how many times asked. On a few occassions I almost passed out in the elevator/hallways. If they are saying that the elements are due to plaster walls expanding due to heat/cold than maybe the association is responsible however, I have tirelessly attempted to get to the bottom of the cause and feel that I have been railroaded by many different intepretations as to how the damages were caused. I feel I paid for Insurance coverage twice personally and through our co-op association and the damages were "not" caused by me and that I should be compensated for my sufferings,aggrevation, money and time.
