International boundaries

I came across this site when I was trying to find info on a company called Lifestyle deals.com. They charged my debit card $39.95 then I also got hit with a charge of $1.50 for an international transaction. My bank gave me a website called Maraudercs.com so I got a number from this website to make my call. These people claimed that they represent thousands of merchants and handle all the billing and customer support for all of these thousands of companies. The man I was speaking to claimed the only way to look and see where my charge came from was to give him the last six digits from my debit card. I reluctantly did and he informed me I had signed up for something called Lifestylsdeals.com. He said I signed up with them on 11-4-12. I've never heard of Lifestylesdeals nor can I find their website. When I asked about having my money returned he said that when I signed up for the service I should've read the terms and conditions because there is no refunds. I explained I never signed up for the service and after I demanded that he provide me a way to contact this company he gave me the exact same number I had used to call him. He then again informed me that his company handles all of the customer service for Lifestylesdeals.com. I then asked him again to provide me with a way to contact Lifestylesdeals because they have simply stolen money from my account and I wanted to find out how and where they got my account info from. He still was unable to provide me with a website or a phone number to call but then changed his tone of voice and said that my money would be returned to me in 10-11 days. I don't consider myself being scammed because I had never signed up for anything. In fact I don't use my debit card or credits online for anything I have a pre paid money card I use for online purchases. My main concern here is how did they get my bank info? What these people did is not a scam but is straight up theft! I will now be closing my bank account and reopening a new one to ensure that they or no one else can charge my account. Why can't we just go back to using cold hard cash rather than this digital money? Then at least when someone wants to steal my money I get to try and kick their (Inappropriate Content Removed)!
