Several months ago I went to a presentation from Direct Buy and thought I would get a free tablet. A man handed me a flyer with a certificate number which asked me to go to a website -- Quinden Marketing -- and was asked to send in a certified check for $9.95 to "register". After I did that I received a list of products including the 7'' tablet.

I sent in a $36.85 certified check for the shipping & handling and upgrade charges. The website shows the check was received and cashed on 9/23/2012. Today (12/1/2012) I have not received it even though after speaking with Greig in customer service. I was told that their shipping department is out of New York and the recent hurricane has caused some significant delays and that I should receive tracking number shortly. It has been 10 weeks since they received the check. Now they have taken down their site and phones are always busy. After reading so many similar complaints against the Quinden Marketing Ltd I believe I have been scammed. The question is if anything can be done about this scam? I did have suspicious when they asked for payment by certified check.
