Got a phone call with an automated voice alerting that this call was concerning being served with court documents. The person I spoke with called himself Stephen Wilson. Claimed I owed a debt from 2008, and that I was being served court papers if the debt was not immediately corrected. When I asked for paperwork to be sent to me with my signature assuming said debt(which is the law-Fair Debt Collection Practices Act), he got extremely belligerent, told me to be an adult and handle my business. He wouldn't tell me who he worked for, where he was located, or who he represented. When I said that this debt was not mine he told me that I had to fax him my burden of proof that it wasn't mine....what? We then had a 5 minute screaming match, he refused to send me to a supervisor, and when I called back to speak to a supervisor, the person that answered the phone and took my complaint TRANSFERED ME RIGHT BACK TO "STEPHEN" who answered the phone with, "You are going to fax me your burden of proof or I am sending a Sheriff to your house..." I said bring it, and hung up. Glad to find this is a scam and not some expired vortex of identity theft...damages? Interrupting my spelling lesson with my 7 year old. Ugh.
