This company offers free Federal income tax preparation services to the public.

When trying to use this "Free online service", continuous redirects to purchase the paid version occurs. When those offers are declined, the free version user is sent into a loop called "Q7loop" with no way out. After attempts to use the free version are made through various other website pages, the program starts but continuously sends the user to a "Purchase the paid version" page. After repeated tries, one can eventually work through the free version. A fee of $29.00 (or so)is requested to file the return electronically. When not selected, an offer is made to print the return. When the "Print my return" is selected, the return is not printed. An error page states they are having difficulties. After 90 minutes, the connection is terminated and the return preparation is lost.

Called support: Representative claimed my browser was not supported. Internet Explorer 9. current to April update from Microsoft. Tried the software again using the current version of the Mozilla Firefox browser. The free version would not load. Called technical support. Representative claimed this browser was not supported. I asked her which Microsoft computer PC browser was supported? Line disconnected.

I believe Intuit Inc.TurboTax online tax filing service is offering a "Free Federal simple tax filing service" as a bait and switch operation. If the bait & switch doesn't work, they fill the forms out, warn the user that an upgrade fee of $49.00 needs to be paid to prevent the loss of the already filled return should something go wrong with finishing the tax preparation, then proceeds to pressure sell the "E file" option. It is extremely difficult to catch the very small option to "Change filing method" at the bottom of the page. If found and chosen, the option is selected, but a warning displays that this will take some time. It does! NEVER. Again, after waiting 90 minutes, the connection is closed (for my protection) and all the information entered is lost. Try # 3.

I'm a disabled senior and find this kind of shadiness very disturbing. Now they have all my information.
