I purchased a Kate Spade handbag at www.katespadehandbagonsale.com. I was linked to this site through Pinterest (pinner: Kate Spade Outlet). I thought this was their ‘outlet’ site and it appeared legit, as it mimicked the regular site very closely.

Immediately after I placed an order I received an email from RealyPay. It was not an order confirmation rather it was providing me with a user login and password, also claiming that they were a third party payment center. The email immediately raised suspicion. Why would a well-known company like Kate Spade use a third party company for payment? Also, they misspelled “Third Part payment”. I googled RealyPay and that’s when I found this site, Scambook. (Thanks to everyone who took the time to write up a complaint. I imagine there are hundreds of people who haven’t.)

After realizing I had been scammed, I immediately cancelled my credit card.

I replied to the RealyPay email but the email was returned as undeliverable.

I logged in to the account provided in the email and saw that it was for the order I just placed. At that time I also sent a message. It was sent either through the fraudulent website (www.katespadehandbagonsale.com) or the RealyPay ‘account’. I’m sorry I can’t remember…my blood was boiling at that time. I told them to cancel my order and may have written something about knowing it was a scam.

I received an email the following day from RealyPay titled “Refunding done”. I logged into the account and it also showed that a refund had been processed. I’m still not so sure.

The order was placed in the evening, and that’s when I cancelled my credit card. So the following morning I called my bank to explain the situation. I was told that once a charge is approved, it can still go through regardless if the credit card was cancelled. Since the approval was received before I cancelled my card, the charge still could go through. According to my bank the charge of $111.90 is showing up on my account, not as a ‘pending transaction’ but as a “ATM Dialog”, meaning a company has requested approval for charges.

The charge is from CBPay www.timeexpress.

The business name and amount do not match the order ($107.50), but it was the only purchase I made on that day.

I am watching my account closely and will dispute the charge should it go through.

I am usually more careful about online purchases. There were a few red flags I should have seen, but my guard my down.
