A variation on the same scam reported by others last year. My spouse received a letter from National Lottery (in conjunction with HPC Food Service, LLC) advising that he was randomly selected from those who made credit card purchases at participating stores on a defined date and had won a prize of $153,750. There was fairly real looking check for $3,750 included with the letter from HPC Food Service. The bank named on the check was Webster Bank of CT. The letter instructed my spouse to deposit the check and to use the proceeds to pay taxes that had to be paid before the balance of $150,000 could be released.
We've advised both HPC Food Service and Webster Bank of the scam.

- Received this letter as well. Same totals, instructed me to make two payments to them by Western Union once the funds showed available in my account. I won't say cleared because this check would never clear.
