It appears this company has some sort of back door relationship with the reputable travel websites. When you book reservations they are acting as an agent to the actual hotels. If you ask them if they work for the hotel they tell you yes, when in fact they do not. They can not speak english that well which leads you to believe they are not even located in the US. Since they have no direct relationship with any hotel chain or travel website the hotel or travel websites will not help you to resolve any issue you may encounter with them.

This company is not quoting the actual room rates they are tacking a fee for their service. Again the hotel will not help you to recover these fees. Also if you are a frequent traveler with reward cards, the hotel may not allow you to use your card since you book through this company. All hotel will allow you to use your award card if you are booking directly with them or even one of the travel site. It is unclear how this company inserted themselves and their phone numbers between the travel websites and the actual hotels.

Lastly, the website of encounter.com does not really exist, and you can not find out who this company really is. They are very much a scam and it hard to know who you are dealing with, since they will identify themselves as working directly for the travel website or the hotel itself.
