A girl came by my apartment earlier today telling me she was in a speech class and was required to go around and meet 100 people every month, or something like that. After a few minutes of general chit-chat, she told me that her goal was to sell me some magazines for sick children in the hospital. She said by selling these magazines she would earn points toward a potential trip to Italy. She told me the company this works through was 'International Communication Concepts.'

And I almost fell for it.

I filled out my information on her little slip. I even wrote out the check for $59. It seemed a little suspicious at first, but she was such a sweet girl, I figured there was no way she could knowingly be scamming me. She asked me if she could use my phone to call in the order, so I went in to get it. And that's when I had the quick idea to google this company. Behold! Scambook was one of the first websites to pop up. I told her that I changed my mind because I had already made a donation this year and that was that.

That's the last time I ever trust a door-to-door 'salesman.'
