I have just been on the phone to Vodaphone after receiving the same message as everybody else £5 charged for a "vid" from "FunPass".

I did click a link in a browser and watch a video but at no point did it mention any payment or ask me to agree to any charges.

On further investigation the whole thing sounds like one big scam. I never instructed Vodaphone to sign me up to the PayForIt service but they say every uk mobile is automatically signed up to it! I can't see how that's in any way legal but moving on...

I have chased down the string of companies involved in this charge: FunPass charge it to http://www.switchfire.com/ who in turn use http://www.impulsepay.com/ to then charge Vodaphone and eventually Vodaphone put it on my bill.

Just to clarify, I have not agreed to any of this with any of these companies!

The only advice Vodaphone could give was that "the only way these companies will change things is if enough people complain about it". Am I missing something here or am I correct in thinking the police should be involved?

Vodaphone have agreed to refund the payment at their expense; which is annoying because these scammers are still making the money off it!
