I thought that when I sent off my pain script to Optumrx, for the better part of a year, that I would be helped without so many problems since the state of Florida doesnt carry pain meds for those in chronic pain or for even accute pain from an accident.
Boy was I wrong, I have never heard of such a policy as Optum decided to implement in the middle of 2013. They told my doctor that (even tho I have systemic lupus erythematosis, and scleroderma and recovering from breast cancer) that I should be on long acting pain meds that should cover % 80 of my relief while the breakthru meds should only be % 20. I was sending them my break thru pain script. Now I know that they have never seen me in my life. Nor have they a license to be any Md so where do they get off telling mg doc what I should have. I am on a pain pump implanted under my skin that has failed to adequately
relieve my pain due to complication, but they at Optum do not consider a pump to be long acting. Nor do they consider methadone to be long acting. Hello?!?! Anyway my doc was not able to reason with them and he said that Optum has done the same thing to some of his other patients. I have read on other sites where a man had over 18 surgeries on his back. Unable to walk or get his own meals. Rods in his spine to hold him together and Optum did the same thing to him. Quit filling his meds for no reason. Optum told me they do this to everyone on CIIs. Another woman I read who is a 71 y/o, in severe chronic pain and Optum did her the same way.! Optum just stopped filling pain scripts for many who need them. Should we get a class action lawsuit going? I would be happy to help all I could. I am still searching for my pain meds since October early. Please help. The oath to first do no harm is grossly being ignored here.
