My husband and I originated a personal loan from One Main Financial in July 2011. During this process they were encouraging us to have extra coverage for disabilities or unemployment. We opted for the unemployment compensation. We were told it was a good idea if either one of us became unemployed. The total premium of the life of the loan is $1816.24 and it is for involuntary separation from a job. You can be compensated a maximum monthly benefit of $750.00. I became unemployed in October of 2012. I have been struggling with them ever since then for any compensation that maybe owed to me. I have submitted a lot of paperwork complete with even proof from the unemployment office itself. Not only do I feel I am getting the runaround, but they actually lied to me when their insurance company told me a couple months ago they never submitted the proper paperwork to them to get the claim started. The Selma office told me they had. Now, at this present time Triton Insurance is asking for more paperwork to be filled out by me and this has been going on for more than a year. I believe I should be owed a reduction in the balance of my loan for paying an extra montly premium for being unemployed. This feels to me exactly what the mortgage companies are doing when you are about to foreclose. I feel it is the same treatment because I have gone through it!
