I was contacted in August of 2013 to see if I wanted to run an ad on the local radio station here in Memphis, TN welcoming home the troops from Iraq/Afghanistan. As a small business owner, and military spouse, I was excited to do this. I spoke to the gentleman on the phone about it all and he said that it would be $699 for the airings on a local news station here in Memphis. He told me that by mail I would receive the scripting of what they would say, including what information about my company they would be including, the dates and times it would air and an MP3 of the recording that they would use. I never heard from them again until October when they started sending me collection notices for this service that they supposedly ran. I looked at the most recent communications from them and it says that it aired on WRBO FM 103.5 radio here in Memphis, this is a soul music station and not a station I would have ever authorized for this be ran on. I contacted the company again today after repeated phone calls from them and told them I have no intention of paying for this because it was not actually done and I was not provided with any sort of contract for this advertising, any sort of documentation on what was going to be said, etc. as promised and they said that they would pursue collection activities...this is just plain wrong and criminal of them trying to collect money from small business owners, especially those with ties to our military. I did look online and find that I am not the only one that this is happening to, the BBB has 41 complaints about them for the same things.
