I received a letter from Dr. Kramer titled as "LAST NOTIFICATION for PRIZE REMITTANCE" for Prize no. 161 793. It states that the Prize Remittance Department received an order to make a check to me for $43,730.65, which is the total amount of unclaimed prizes in the past year. In order to claim the check, I am to respond within 10 days 'after reception of these documents.'

It claims to be a second chance, and states that because I did not attend a prize award ceremony (to which I have no knowledge having been invited), I am being given second chance to claim the 'main prize', a check for $1150.00.

The letter states that I am to complete the enclosed acceptance form and return it to claim the initial $1150.00, with a $50.00 symbolic participation fee, plus %5.00 for shipment, which will include a talisman with my check, which will 'be an inexhaustible source of money for you.'

The letter goes on to state that I would receive my $1150.00 check in three weeks, and shortly thereafter I would receive another check in the amount of $43,730.65.

On the back of the forms, which contains fine print for the entry process, it states an option for entry without purchase is available by submitting the form in a plain white envelope "with nothing but the address of Dr. Kramer on the outside;", NOT the one included in the mailing.

Since this is going to the Netherlands, and the odds are quite high that this is indeed a scam, I think I will submit entry, which does not require any financial information, or remittance, to the address in a plain white envelope and see if I indeed receive any monies. Although, I wonder if any checks received would be legitimate. I haven't been able to recover much information regarding this particular contest.

It also states on the back of the letter that 'secondary prizes, called 'checks' are sent as 'reduction vouchers' worth $1150.00. So what is a reduction voucher?

Further, it states that Dr. Kramer cannot provide any information by telephone; not that there is a phone number at which to contact Dr. Kramer to begin with.

My instincts say this has a 95% chance of being fraudulent.

I suggest not sending any money outside of the U.S. unless you have actually entered into a contest that you are certain is legitimate.
