Scare Tactics: they take control and point out boatloads of things that they claim are on the verge of causing a complete crash of your computer. Then they spend two hours "cleaning."

Cost: Initial cost $300 for one year of technical support and lifetime of security, though "lifetime" is not clarified.

Follow up: When I called with further problems, I was told it was a "network" problem. A computer had been added and viruses were spreading to all three computers. All computers were on the verge of imminent crash and all data would be lost.

New Cost: An additional $400 for another year of technical support and lifetime security for networked computers.

Follow Up: PC Vedic called me. The rep said they were monitoring error messages and warnings that were Hacker (Trojan) attempts to gain access to passwords and bank accounts. Our computers were at risk and on the verge of complete crash and all data would be lost. The rep said he did not understand why I did not have computer security.

My Response: I do. I paid you (PC Vedic / Insta Geeks Help, LLC) $700 for "Microsoft Essentials Security."

His Answer: Unintelligible repetitions of "you need to have security."

Final Go: When I told him I did not intend to pay any more money for "security," he said, "very well, when your computer crashes we cannot be held responsible." When I asked for a phone number to contact an English speaking rep from the parent company, he refused, saying they would call me. They never did.
