A guy claiming to be from Microsoft phoned me and they said i had viruses on my computer and that it was going to crash if they did not help,I did not realise it was a scam because they phoned me on my home phone number and it sounded like Microsoft.I gave them remote access stupidly and they pretended to fix my computer.
I am in South Africa and they said it would cost R350 (which is roughly $35) but they put through transaction for $350 which is (R3600),they insisted the amount would not be in dollars and that i would get an invoice.
I put a block on my credit card ,informed my bank that this is fraud and I formatted my laptops hard drive and reinstalled.
