Firs it was a Jennifer Wilson who called and left a message stating that if I did not return her call that legal action would take place and that a warrent for my arrest would be issued. I called Jennifer back and she told me that I owed back taxed for a misfile back in 2010 in the amount of $1489.00. The name she gave as a nickname and which I have never filed taxes under that name. She said that her department would file an investigation. I started thinking about the matter and decided to call back to get information (personal) regarding this claim and a individual by the name of Kevin Smith (with a very heavy arabic accent) answered. I asked for Jennifer and he told me that he was the office in charges of my case and if I did not pay the amount immediately that he would have a warrent out for my arrest and that federal agent would be at my place of employment to take me into custody. He refused to provide me with any information regarding this claim until I made the payment. That I would have to go to my local Rite store and get money vouchers and then he would tell me what IRS office that I would have to take the money to and that this transaction would have to take place while he was on the phone with.
Instead I got on the phone with IRS and my local sherriffs department and told them what was going on and they told me that it was a scam and not to answer any more of his or her calls. The deputy told me to go on to the FBI.gov site and file a claim under scams/safty in which I did just that. In I decided to check the US Treasury site as will and it brought me to this link so therefore I am filing this complaint here as well.
