I looked at the company's website, specifically, the buy now page. It was on my mobile phone. The page had a blue box showing £19.99 and the words BUY NOW. There was no asterix to indicate this was a deposit. The words pre-order after I placed my order wasn't explained as a two-part payment system.
The networks require around £20 to unlock the phone. I believe this company has deliberately misled consumers in this regard.
The company's response to my complaint was to refer me to their Pricelist page, which I had not read. I didn't read it because the BUY NOW page clearly advertised that unlocking my handset from the network was £19.99.
