I received a call from the number 253-210-6601 claiming that they were the federal government offering me a $9,000.00 grant just for being a loyal citizen, no bankruptcies, no criminal record, etc....
I suspected a scam, so refused to give him any of my personal info, but he had my name, my street name, my city name, my state name, and my cell number. He then gave me a confirmation number to use to claim my grant money at a local Wal-Mart near where I live....he then told me that I would need to call his accounting manager officer (his words) & when I asked for that person's name, he put me on hold to confirm that person's name (why wouldn't he just know that person's name if it's his acct'g mgr officer) he also stated that the manager was at the Federal Reserve bank of NY. The number that he phoned me from was in WA state, no NY...and the number that he gave me to call was not a NY area code it was a Bay Area number in CA state. I did not call this number back as he had instructed me, instead I did a Google search for a scam to the website he directed me to...www.usagovernmentgrants.org and the phone number he claimed was a NY number to his manager was 408-641-4294. I wish to file a formal complaint please. Thanks
