I was surfing the internet when a very annoying window popped up repeating a message that I had a serious virus infection on my computer along with a phone number to call in order to fix the problem (yadda, yadda,yadda). My PC was completely locked up, and I was fit to be tied. Obviously the people responsible for the virus pretended to be the solution. I called the number to tie them up and tell them off. The technician pretended to represent Microsoft and assured me that he wasn't trying to sell me anything or charge for a temporary fix for my problem After a long speech telling me how serious my problem was, how all my computers would be affected, etc. he told me my options were to take my PC to VTech blah, blah and it would cost me $149-$169 blah, blah and I told him I had a service that would fix my problem he did a search (our PCs were linked) he should me a number of hits for my support company being a scam. I immediately did a similar search for his company and got no hits. I told him I didn't approve of the sales technique and informed him until I did research I wasn't paying anyone etc. (he hung up on me). Somehow after we were disconnected my search for VTech scams revealed plenty of hits regarding their scams (including this site). I see by other complaints posted here they usually claim they are Microsoft and that is a lie. Do not give these hucksters any money!
