Received a fraud alert text today December 3rd 2016 saying it was a fraud alert coming from Capital One. The amount reported was $74.11 done at Safeway store. It asked to reply yes or no to stop. Called Capital One instead of the 1 800 number the text said to call, 800-369-6864. Capital One said that number does not belong to them nor have any charges been placed on any of my accounts. Not sure if the issue is coming from my carrier T-Mobile, Capital One or Safeway but do not call no reply to that spam text.

- I received a text as well asking if I had made a charge. I texted back NO and was informed my card was now suspended. I logged into my cap one account and saw the fraudulent charge was there. Too early in the morning to call the number on the back of my cad, but I suspect this txt is actually legit. The number is owned by BNY Capital Markets LLC

- This is a legit text. I replied NO to the text asking about the fraudulent charge and my card was suspended. The charge did show as pending on my account. I called cap 1 with the number on the back of the card and they confirmed the card was suspended. Was told they partner with other banks for fraud checks and customer service.

- This is a legit fraud text. I received this same text and replied "no" My card was suspended, which I confirmed by calling the 800 number on the back of my card. The phone number is registered to BNY Mellon Capital. The Cap One person explained that the phone number may be from Mastercard because they help each other out. The fraudulent charge was listed as pending on my account.
