In the middle of a horrible experience right now with world remit. I sent them $2,000 CAD over two weeks ago. When I checked the status of the transfer, it said "Waiting Authorization". I waited a few more days and the status never changed. I finally called them after 4-5 days and they told me that I need to send them a copy of a valid ID. I never received an email or phone call about it. They just sat there waiting for me to complain before finally telling me. I sent them a copy and waited, and waited and waited. Still, I see "Waiting Authorization". 8 days have gone by at this point. I called back. "Oh, we also need a copy of your recent bank statement, information about the recipient and documentation supporting the reason why you're sending money". The person told me they have a legal obligation to collect this information. In fact, you can even go on their website in the FAQ section and it says the exact same thing. At this point, I called my lawyer and asked him what is going on. He explained to me that if it's under $10,000, there's absolutely no legal obligation to request such specific documentation. I decided to do it anyway. I just wanted my money transferred. Again, I waited and waited and waited. It's now been 17 days. I have sent a total of 14 emails, 3 phone calls and chatted with a live customer service representative. Only two of my emails even got a response and the person on the phone acted like he had no idea how the process worked. The live chat agent assured me that my documents were transferred to the correct department and promised me that she would give me an update. She never did. To make matters more ludicrous, when you send customer service an email, you get an automated reply stating that the average response time for an email is 5 hours. Well, I have emails that haven't been responded to for over 10 days. They must be replying to everybody else in an instant to keep that average! My nightmare continues. Might have to get back in touch with my lawyer..
