I ordered a camera from Compudeals2u.com on 12/10/2011 and chose "free shipping" which was to take 7-10 business days. On the morning of 12/13/2011 I called Compudeals2u.com and explained to them that I needed the camera delivered to me by Saturday 12/17/2011 as it was a gift for my daughter who was leaving the country on 12/18. They said I could upgrade to 2-3 business day for $24 and I would be guaranteed to be delivered by Friday 12/16. I agreed to these terms. The initial price of the camera with free shipping was $144. Later when I checked the invoice for my order via the "My Account" section on their website my total charge was $184. I called them back to inquire why I was charged $40 instead of the $24 that they told me. The "customer service" agent told me there was a $16 dollar charge for insurance. The agent NEVER disclosed this charge to me when I upgraded my shipping, only telling me that the shipping was $24. They refused to refund me the undisclosed $15 charge. The invoice they provide is not itemized, it only shows a total of $184. There is also NO TRACKING number provided on the invoice and no way to tell when the item was actually shipped. The camera was NOT delivered on Friday 12/16, nor did it arrive on Sat 12/17. I called their "customer service" on 12/17 to inquire about my order. The person I spoke with said he was only in "sales" and couldn't look up my tracking number. He said there was nobody there for customer support, even though I was calling during the customer service hours on their website. He told me to call back the following day, Sunday, and I would be able to speak with someone in Customer Service. I called back Sunday and was told that there was nobody there for customer service and to call back Monday, however the person I spoke with did give me my tracking number even though he was only in "sales" just like the previous person I spoke with. I told him that I wanted a refund for the shipping because I did not get the package when they guaranteed that I would get it and now my daughter had left the country. I could have just kept the free shipping. He told me that they would "take care of that for me" and to call on Monday. The whole reason I upgraded my shipping was so that I would have the camera by 12/18. The camera arrived at 3:00cst on 12/19. I called compudeals2u on 12/19 to request a refund for the shipping charge. I explained to them that I called them on the morning of 12/13 to upgrade the shipping, but when looking at the Fedex tracking info I could see that they did not contact Fedex until 12/14. Fedex picked up the package on 12/15, therefore only allowing one day for delivery, so now way it would be delivered by 12/16 or 12/17. The person I spoke with claimed to be the "customer service supervisor" and refused to refund my shipping charge. He accused me of lying about the fact that they assured me I would get the package by Friday. He said the most he could do was refund the insurance charge of $15 (one dollar short of what they charged me). I said that this was not acceptable to me and he told me to take it or leave it. I explained that because they didn't ship the package when they said they were going to ship it that it was their fault and they should refund me the money and restore my free shipping. He refused. I asked for the address of their business numerous times and he refused to disclose it. The "Support" link on their website leads to a "page not found error". The agent was rude an uncooperative, telling me things like "what do you think you are ordering french fries or something?" When I questioned his demeanor and asked for a supervisor he told me he was the supervisor and told me that I was rude and I can't talk to him like that and that I "just wanted to get my way." I told him that this situation was unfair and again asked him to refund the full $40 for shipping and he refused. Through my experience with compdeals2u.com I was lied to, verbally abused, treated unkindly and unfairly, and was not delivered the service that was promised to me.
UPDATE: This is a follow up to my previous BBB complaint #8852118 against compudeals2u.com. After receiving the camera I ordered from compudeals2u.com, and after writing my initial complaint, I opened the package. The camera did not come in the retail box and I suspect it is refurbished. Inside the box was a Vivitar battery. The camera I purchased is a Nikon S8100. I called "customer service" and spoke with someone who claimed his name was Peter. I asked him why my Nikon camera came in a plain box with a Vivitar battery. He gave me a convoluted "answer" about how the cameras don't come with a battery or charger, but I ordered the U.S. model which comes with a battery. When I continued to ask why there is a Vivitar battery I was not given an answer, I was only asked "do you want to return the camera or what?". When I continued to ask about the product he told me that they buy the cameras separate and then package them themselves. When I continued to press for a reasonable answer to my question I was told "forget it, we don't want to do business with customers like you. Return the camera that's it!". I asked to speak with a manager and he told me "NO." Later he told me the manager was listening on the other line and was "laughing his *Word Rejected*off." He told me that it says that the camera doesn't come with a battery or charger in the item description on their website. I told him that this is not true. NOWHERE ON THEIR WEBSITE DOES IT SAY THAT THE NIKON S8100 DOES NOT COME IN RETAIL PACKAGING OR THAT IT DOESN'T COME WITH A BATTERY, OR THAT IT COMES WITH A REPLACEMENT BATTERY FROM ANOTHER MANUFACTURER. I told him that was deceptive marketing and he told me that the customer "should know that it doesn't come with a battery." How is the customer supposed to assume that??? When purchasing a camera from any retail outlet they always come with a battery unless advertised otherwise, or unless the product is listed as "refurbished" and lists what is NOT included in the packaging. There are so many complaints from your dropdown list that apply to compudeals2u.com. It was almost impossible to choose one. Complaints about their bait & switch and deceptive practices are emerging all over the internet. It has been exposed that the "positive reviews" from their website are linked to another business. These guys need to be shut down before more people have to experience this scam.
