I was a fool. I needed to download new software. After providing the info requested, a box appeared that said I had to call a specific phone number in order to complete my transaction. Well, it was Qresolve. The person who answered did not tell me that he was with a company, and so after several minutes, and remote access to my computer (how stupid was I?) he convinced me I had many corrupt files that he would take care of - if I took a two year contract with his company. He said Qresolve would provide 24/7 assistance for all of my computer problems. So, he did not represent the software manufacturer, but a separate company.

Last night, June 23, I had a problem. I have a Toshiba lap top. The cursor would not move and the computer was frozen. So, I called Qresolve. The first person to answer the call was a woman who could hardly speak. Her voice was very soft and I had to keep repeating my name, address, etc. Finally, I told her what was wrong and she said she would have to transfer me. After about a 10 minute wait, a man came on the line. He spoke very quickly and I had to keep asking him to repeat himself. He asked me the same questions as the woman and I provided the same answers. Then he told me to tap the F9 key several times and that would solve the problem. Well, it didn't. So he told me I would have to take the computer in for repair or call the Toshiba people. I was not going to be deterred, so I called back and got the same woman. When she transferred me I got a different man. We went through the same scenario. His solution was to hook up a mouse and take my computer in for repair.

I did not give up, but this time went on line and looked up Toshiba. Low and behold, in 5 minutes my problem was solved. Yes, I had to tap the F9 key but I also had to tap the FN key at the same time. IT WORKED.

So here is the deal. You cannot understand the people on the phone. They only had general knowledge of how to fix the problem (tap the F9 key). Their solution was to take the computer in for repair.

I will never call them again. Yes, I am out $237.00 but I just don't want to go through the hassle of trying to get a refund. I have learned a great lesson.
