VIP Readers Service called on 1.4.12 and offered a watch and sweepstakes entry if I ordered magazines. I understood I could cancel at any time and ordered some magazines. I gave VIP a “one-time-only” permission to withdraw $39.90 from my bank. I canceled the magazine order on 3.14.12 but VIP continued to send invoices and withdraw from my bank without permission. My bank retrieved the money taken from my account for April-June. VIP says a Service Contract was sent stating I had 10 days to cancel and didn’t therefore I am bound for $882.80. I never saw or signed such contract.
VIP says they have a recording of me verbally agreeing to their demands. I asked for a copy of the recording but VIP says they will only play it back by phone for me to record myself. They send repeated invoices and harass to home, business, or cell phone on a near-daily basis. They use various names for the company to confuse customers (aka Baysand Financial/Mid-Atlantic). They say I owe $882.80 plus late fees if not received by 10th of month.
I have tried to resolve issue by phone but am confronted with rude and argumentative employees. Their intention is clearly to harass. I understood I could cancel at any time and canceled on 3.14.2012. They say I cannot cancel, am bound for $882.80, and harass on a near-daily basis with phone calls, invoices.
