I, too, thought I had called Quicken, and was led to believe that I was speaking with a Quicken representative. The tech implied that I had failed to "synchronize" the files before upgrading, which caused the problem. (A fabricated process)

They took control of my computer, and ran a bogus check, and concluded that 48% of my Quicken files were corrupted. The price to fix was $250 for a single fix, $299 for a year of support or $399 for two years of support. I paid the $, but stopped them from doing the work when I realized that they weren't Quicken.

I called back, with a credit card representative on the phone, saying that I wanted to cancel the support. They agreed to do so, and did refund my money.

However, they are a scam. There were no corrupted files. The error I was having was a known issue, easily fixed with a Quicken patch. Intuit support resolved my issue for free.
