I closed a checking account (with a $0 balance) over a year ago. A month after I closed the account, they called and said I owed about $300. I sent them copies of statements and they said they'd look into it. I didn't hear from them until just now, over a year later, when I was contacted by a law firm saying that PNC claimed I owe over $7000.
