I was expecting a call from Google Places, because our new listing was stopped as our very old listing had not been taken down yet. It is impossible to speak to someone in person about Google Places so I was extremely happy when this person called saying that she is calling from Google places. She informed me that the reason our Google Places listing was actually stopped, was due to the fact that Google now charges for their listings and our year had run out and we needed to renew our annual contract. Not once did she correct me when I referred to them as Google, and not once did she clarify that she was not calling from Google. Even when she provided me with my new password and I asked "are there any capital letters in the password?" she said "no, funny but Google doesn't really bother about capital letters in their passwords". Considering that they are not Google and it therefore does not matter whether Google cares about upper or lower case passwords, she clearly indicated that they were Google, when I asked whether there are capital letters in the password. She then passed me on to her colleague to do the last bit of the contract. He greeted me with Online Platform Management Consultants and as far as I knew this was just a department at Google, just like there are HR Departments, Sales Departments, or Accounts Departments.
I just received a phone call from their accounts department and my oh my, what a horrendous experience.
Stay far away from these tricksters!!
