Hello to all interested parties.
I started getting calls, early in December, from a Malisa or Marisa Taylor (407-312-4426), telling me my extra timeshare week was about to expire. Since I am a timeshare owner, I finally called back to find out what was up. She started telling me about how I could make some money selling my week. Because of my reluctance to discuss the matter with her, she transferred me to “someone more knowledgeable”. I was now talking to Mark “Michael” Zane. He informed me he was the financial handler for these transactions and would be my primary contact for this endeavor. He told me he was looking for getaway weeks to sell to corporations, for the Daytona 500 race, and other upcoming events in the Florida area. The primary purpose was to promote timeshare sales. He told me I could make $1,050 on each week I activated. The ten weeks I signed up for cost me $2,390. All transactions would be completed within 30 days.
Michael E-mailed me the forms I needed to get things started. I was instructed to fax them to 412-223-4422 or E-mail to WWV. There were two contracts and two credit card verification forms. My ten weeks were split into two ads of 5 weeks each. On 12/12, I E-mailed the forms to WWV. This was followed up by a phone call from an associate in finance to confirm my payment. This call was recorded. I later received an E-mail confirmation from Kim Spears at WWV.
The payment slips were slightly different. One had a header of ‘WWV Media’, and the other was ‘Timeshare Resort Resale – WWV Media’. The address (333 Daniel Webster Hwy. Suite 19, Meredith, NH. 03253) was the same on both forms. However, my credit card statement showed the Timeshare Resort Resale payment went to Oviedo Florida.
Towards the end of January, Michael contacted me and said he wanted to terminate the WWV contract because he found a cheaper price through another company. He sent me refund forms to be filled out and returned (1/30). He told me the refund process would take a few weeks. A week later (2/7), I signed up with 5-Star Accommodations, in Sanford Florida, at a cost of $1,890 for the same ten weeks.
Towards the end of February, contacting Michael got more difficult. The voicemail (belonging to a Matt Conrad) was always full. On March 1st, I finally got through. Michael said he would resubmit the refund form to WWV. March 8th, Michael promised to get me a confirmation number for the refund. He also mentioned he had 4 or 5 weeks about to be “released” and I should be receiving a call from 5-Star to verify check delivery. It never happened. This was the last conversation I had with Michael. A call on March 23rd confirmed his phone was gone, however his fax line (412-223-4422) remains active.
Attempts to contact WWV Media and 5-Star directly have also been fruitless. I got through to 5-Star and they said they would contact Michael. WWV sent me a robo E-mail thanking me for my patronage.
